The Nyla rug is named after an alias chosen by a Furnishing Futures beneficiary. Every design is paired with a personal reflection from its namesake, sharing how receiving a healing home has helped restore confidence, safety and dignity…

“Having endured years of torment and abuse at the hands of my former partner, I found myself forced to leave everything I knew and had worked hard for, just to feel safe. With that in mind, I was offered a different flat - but to me, it was just a box.

Furnishing Futures felt like a fairy godmother. After just one meeting about what I liked in a home, they transformed the space in a single day. They provided everything: from carpets and rugs to window treatments, and even a Christmas tree. Even my disabled relative was considered, with a comfortable bed for their regular visits. I can take a bath or sit in my living room without fear or the need to jump at the smallest sound.

My child, who previously wouldn’t sleep in their own bed out of fear, now runs into their room, jumps in and starts to play happily with the toys Furnishing Futures provided.

I no longer fear a neighbor knocking on the door. I can entertain friends again, using the beautiful crockery that makes it clear these aren’t hand-me-downs. My child says they love everything, and the best part is "all of it"

Without this support, I quite frankly might have considered returning to my abuser. My child seems to be proud of me stating “you are so strong Mummy" not fully understanding what's happened just seeing we have turned this around very quickly - we cannot thank them enough for giving us a fresh start. It feels surreal.”
