"All the rugs designs were created with a mixture of painting, oil pastel, and photocopied paper collage. My process is quite intuitive and primitive - each rug design has elements that I sought to balance and mix, and we used the same palette throughout the collection.
Charm, Tonic, Armour is a mixture of a folk floral motif that I have used in the past, and graffiti-inspired text. The title came from a description of an amulet in a book about Kazakhstan, but I also feel it describes what I want my work to be for others."
