The Lucie rug is named after an alias chosen by a Furnishing Futures beneficiary. Every design is paired with a personal reflection from its namesake, sharing how receiving a healing home has helped restore confidence, safety and dignity…

“Before being referred to Furnishing Futures, having fled domestic abuse and being placed in temporary accommodation, my three children and I had very little with us. Just a few essentials, no living room furniture, no pots and pans, just an old mattress with bits of metal sticking out of it and some clothes.

Furnishing Futures have completely turned this around for us. We have gone from surviving on less than the basics, to having a safe and comfortable space to thrive in.

I haven't had a place where I wanted to just sit and dedicate time to myself, but now I do. I have a beautifully furnished living space where I can work on stepping forward into my future. I can get the ball rolling on founding my own successful business and will provide an income to support myself and my children.

Em and Aisling have been kind, supportive and understanding and I'm so incredibly grateful for everything that they have done. Having been in an emotionally abusive relationship, it's extremely hard to ask for help and to accept help even when it's offered, but they made me feel deserving and worthy of their help and support throughout this entire process and have made the transition into our new life so much easier.
